iiNet acquires Westnet - FAQs
We are pleased to announce that as of May 8th, 2008, iiNet is acquiring Westnet.
Both iiNet and Westnet see a great opportunity in bringing the two ISPs together. Westnet has a great deal in common with our own approach to customer service; operating the two businesses side by side will allow us to share our good ideas and work on our strengths.
While it'll be business as usual on all fronts, bringing the two companies together will increase the capabilities of both camps - sharing our expertise will lead to an increased overall level of service for our customers.
We believe that consolidation can bring positive change and is essential to the growth of the Australian ISP industry.
What does this mean to iiNet and Westnet customers?
Customers of both brands should see no difference to their service offering. Both businesses will continue to be run separately, which means both iiNet and Westnet customers can continue to expect the same quality of service they're used to.
Will iiNet be integrating Westnet?
From both a staffing and customer perspective, it will be business as usual. Both brands will continue to operate as they always have - we won't be looking at changing any service offerings, moving any customers around or switching logos. Instead, we'll focus on knowledge share and building a strong understanding between the businesses overall.
Will the call centres merge?
iiNet will not be taking Westnet service calls, nor will Westnet take ours. Westnet will continue to operate their call centre separately to our own.
Will Westnet be supported to develop the business over this period?
Absolutely. We're not looking to wind down the Westnet brand, they will continue to operate as normal. Westnet has been acquired with the intention of taking it to another level with access to a new range of products and leveraging expertise from both businesses.
Why are we confident that the acquisition will be nice and smooth?
The combination of iiNet and Westnet brings together two dynamic companies with similar cultures and values. We both share a commitment to innovation and customer service, and we intend to share our strengths across both businesses.
